Squats…how low is too low?
Well, how low will your body let you? And when do you know when you’ve reached your limit?
I’ll tell you!
Go as low as your technique will take you. That means stopping if your lower back begins to round or your knees start to roll in all to much.
That might be just getting your thighs to parallel or it might even be well before that. If that sounds like you, you might need some more hip mobility or better core control… time for some box squats!
Sure your last reps aren’t gonna be as good as your first and you’re not going to always have impeccable form hitting a 1RM.
That’s ok! Just don’t overdo it.
You aren’t gonna die having your back round and your knees fold in a bit on those last few real hard reps.
But if your form is already crumbling before your start to pile on the weight you won’t have anywhere to go except snap city AKA No Gainzzville.
If your form begins to crumble, your body is giving you an opportunity to work on its weak points so you can make it stronger.
Don’t ignore the signs! Take notice what’s going on and make it work for you and not against you.
