Andrew is the director of Alpha Gymnastics, a small gymnastics club operating out of Ascot Park Primary School in which he runs both kids and adult gymnastics programs.
Andrew has completed Bachelor’s degrees in Education and Applied Science and is an Advanced Silver Gymnastics Coach. He is also an internationally accredited MAG (Men’s Artistic Gymnastics) judge and has attended the World Championships (2013) and Youth Olympic Games (2014) and Commonwealth Games (2018).
Andrew was introduced to gymnastics at a small recreational club just outside of Brisbane and knew this was the sport for him when he saw the 1994 World Championships in his hometown.
As a competitor, Andrew represented Queensland at 5 National Championships and Australia in the Trans-Tasman Challenge against New Zealand. He finished his competitive career to take up a full-time teaching position.
Andrew began coaching and judging gymnastics in the late 90’s to give back to the sport he loved. He has presented gymnastics courses in both Queensland and South Australia and has worked with teachers and sporting clubs to spread the benefits of gymnastics to a broader audience.
Andrew has a passion to see people being active and believes physical activity should be something you enjoy. Everybody can benefit from a gymnastics program.
Inspiring children to be active from a young age will help them lead healthy active lives as adults and adults can reclaim their youth and reach fitness goals they may not have thought possible.
